Sep, 2, 2010 The Canal Family: Three Generations of Heroes

"If you read only one book for your personal celebration of the Bicentennial, San Miguel and the War of Independence is the one to read! It not only provides an easy-to-follow description of the surprising details of the 1810 revolution; it also introduces you to the story behind many of the place names in San Miguel. Find out exactly who the Canals were, the Allendes, the Aldamas, the Landetas, the Sautos. What is the history of the Aurora Fabrica?

The Literary Sala is encouraging everyone in town to read Mamie's short, accessible, fascinating book before the September 2 event, because after her presentation about the Canal Family, Mamie will answer questions about the book. Just 100 pages, including photos, the book is available in the Tienda of the Biblioteca."
