In 1958, Casa Carmen founder and owner Natalie Mooring started one of the first "pensiones" (Spanish for "guest house") in San Miguel e Allende. Her passion for hospitality carried her to the historic centerof town where she established what is now known as Casa Carmen.
The original property was in ruins and rife with archaic architectural features (i.e., horse stables and underground chambers). Soon after acquiring the land, Natalie remodeled the premises yet ensured it maintained its original charm. Today, casa carmen reflects a respect for the history of the town in which it sits and a keen sense fo rmodern day hospitality.
"When Natalie first opened the doors of Casa Carmen over 50 years ago, she was also the one in charge of the meals. Betty, our current cook, has been with us for more than 30 years, leanring Natalie's recipes and adding new favorites to our menu.
We offfer a breakfast a la carte, which is a great way to start the day, as well as lunch, a full 3-course meal plus dessert. All our meals are carefully planned, in order to bring you the best seasonal produce and balance nutrition.
Per your request, the Casa Carmen Cook Book will be available soon!"

"Casa Carmen is an absolutely delightful experience. The building is impressive, the rooms are very comfortable, and the courtyard is beautiful. The food at the Casa is wonderful. Each day brings a different menu and opportunities to chat and get to know the other guests. we love being only two blocks form the Jardin in the colonial center of San Miguel, close to all fiestas, music and other activities that give the city its charm and vivid colors.
The most delightful part of Casa Carmen is you, Natalie, for bringing your charm and hospitality to all your guests. We always feel at home and are always sad to leave. Each time we come is better than the last. Thank you Natalie for making our visit to the Casa so memorable and so special. Congratulations on your 50th anniversary! see you again next year!"
